How to stop TV licensing warning letters?

How to stop TV licensing warning letters?

I am weary of getting TV license warning letters. They are dropping in my letterbox quite frequently now. I wrote to the authority as well as completed their online forms.

I even received an email that the letters will be stopped from now onwards. But in reality, nothing has changed. I still keep getting TV license warning letters through the post. Even the letters are now using very intimidating and strong words such as an investigation is started, you may be fined, you can end up in court etc.

I wrote to the TV Licensing Company that why not someone visits my address or even call me on my mobile. But no interaction with the company, except the auto email responses or warning letters.

The only thing I am worried that they may be spending millions of taxpayers’ money for nothing. They should have a proper system which keeps records of all the correspondence. So, people like me do not get tormented.

I faced the same issue and went through a horrible time. It is horrendous to get such threatening letters.

Initially, I was taking the letters very seriously. I kept responding to their letters through a proper procedure like filling the forms. Nonetheless, I was getting the letters.

Even they did not bother to update my details in their system. I keep getting letters under the name “legal occupier”. All my efforts that I was trying to resolve the issue with the licensing company was useless.

My solution is to tear the letter without even opening it and then throw straight to the bin. If they do not care, I will not waste my time pursuing to resolve the issue.

My experience was the same. I was using my TV for Xbox only. When I asked to stop the letters then I received an email stating that:

“You have declared that no one at your address watches or records live TV programmes on any channel or device, or downloads or watches BBC programmes on demand, including catch up TV, on BBC iPlayer……… Thank you for telling us you don’t need a TV Licence. Your No Licence Needed declaration will last until……”

It also said, “You won’t receive any letters or emails from us until just before your declaration expires in ….”

      That was all I needed.

I am still getting their letters, but now my small waste bin takes care of them.
