Has Iran formally started a war by launching missiles on the US troops in Iraq?

It is quite normal in Islamic traditions that they often wait for the burial of the deceased for respect. General Qasem Soleimani was buried today, and after a few hours, Iran has launched missiles at Iraq’s Ain Assad air base housing US troops.

Is it the start of the war? What would be the US response?

Iranian state TV saying that Tehran’s Revolutionary Guard aerospace division fired the surface-to-surface missiles and the operation was named “Marytr Soleimani“.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard issued the warning via a statement carried by Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency.
“We are warning all American allies, who gave their bases to its terrorist army, that any territory that is the starting point of aggressive acts against Iran will be targeted,”
“The President has been briefed and is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team,”

So far, it is the start but the situation can escalate quickly. In retrospect, we may see some suicide attacks in the coming days, particularly in Iraq.

Iran has to fire those rockets otherwise would suffer an extraordinary loss of face. If the US does not retaliate with military force now then the situation can be easily de-escalated. Iran would come to the diplomatic table but still continue the damages through surrogate forces.
